Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
Big investors aren't going to give so much as a skid mark about this. The only people who really are bothered are us, the ones who post in forums.

I hear you but maintain this demonstrates poor, piss poor commercial judgement. Moreover, an irrational firing of a loose cannon by a 'piper boy' would not enthuse my investment or sense of being able to work constructively within conventional protocols.

I may well be talking out of my arse though mate, would not be the first or last time that will happen.

Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
Looks like they changed his role so they could pay him the minimum pay off. Looks a bit shabby from our owners to be honest.

Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
Crassus,

I suspect you'd love it as a potential investor, because you'd think the current board would be easy to get one over on in negotiations.

I also suspect this hypothetical you would be wrong in that.

The whole thing is ridiculous from a PR standpoint, whatever the truth of the matter (and if, as people seem to be trying to suggest, Carr is a difficult character these days with at least one son willing to go off on one, then all the more reason they should have recognised that and made sure this was dealt with carefully. On the other hand, if Carr is completely in the right here then the board are of course even more culpable and frankly have acted like cunts. The truth may lie somewhere in between. But I don't think we need to be worrying about it having a greater impact than a couple of days worth of headlines. Rooney will stub his toe or something next week and all the press will move on. It's only us who will be left with a feeling of sadness.

Crassus 3:06 Thu Jul 28
Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
OK another angle on this - the stated preferred aim from day one was for the owners to encourage investment form outsiders whilst retaining control

Now just imagine you ere a successful international businessman, with a potential interest - how comfortable would you be witnesing this PR fiasco? Actions speak louder than words and the whole episode is a cheap clusterfuck, indicative of second raters batting abover their average

I just strongly doubt Carr is using the press as a negotiating tactic with the club. I don't think that's his motivation at all. He is just venting about poor treatment.

''Actually, a business should react to the leaks to the press of an unjustifiably disaffected employee by crushing their claims by any means possible. Class has nothing to do with it.''

No surprise that this cunt is an expert on PR strategy now also. ACTUALLY (see, I can be a cunt too), the standard tactic in dealing with this type of news is low key. The club could quite simply have suggested Carr is disgruntled at being moved on; the club has to evolve; he's been generously treated, etc - no figures whether financial or player related.

If I was Carr I wouldn't have gone to the press, he's been naive in mentioning the 14K as no one who's ever actually dealt with the scum would have.

However, this plainly goes deeper than the money. You don't move someone on after decades at a firm without the head of that firm sitting down and explaining it to them. Leaving it to the HR monkey is just bad form and even worse communications, particularly in the case of someone with a public profile.

Anyone who thinks that having the chairman's son issue press releases (I don't care who actually wrote it) of the sort we saw yesterday and that this is the best communications approach for the image of our club needs fucking help.

I appreciate a lot of what they've done but they are self aggrandising amateurs when it comes to communications. And that's got everything to do with class - they don't have any, with their 20 goal a season strikers (that's gone well, can't see why other clubs don't do that); all their tacky iconic stadium bullshit; never mind how they've handled the ticketing in general - never better illustrated than by the utterly dishonest and ungracious email that cunt Tara Warren wrote to Virginia Hammer over on his ticket office thread.

They've done plenty of good stuff for the club but they're a naff couple of wide boys and that vulgar tart Brady is even worse.

The way it's all been handled is very WEST HAM OLYMPIC.

Charoo 1:55 Thu Jul 28
Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
I think this has been handled appallingly and without class.

However Tony Carr has earned a nice living, been involved with the game and club he loves for many years.

In my book that Beats working an ordinary job for average pay and no recognition other than a handshake and a carriage clock when it's time to move on.

I won't lose any sleep for him.

Fire him from what? Hadn't he already left at the stage the quotes were made?

Carr said: 'I'm very disappointed because I still feel I've got a lot to offer and West Ham has become a way of life for me after all these years.

'The way it was done with people from HR, who have been here hardly any time at all, was particularly disrespectful in my opinion. But that's the way of the world these days.'

You can fucking do one as well, Griffin.

Marston Hammer 1:50 Thu Jul 28
Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
There's only two quotes from Carr in that whole mail article. More than likely they got the story from elsewhere then got a few quotes out of him. Hardly a big deal.

That Jr article is ridiculous though - what sort of cunt would publish how much an employee has earned over the years.

How do you like those apples?

Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
Regardless of who did what, this is embarrassing for the chairmen and our club.

I find it amusing that he they think £1.6 million is a fair wage, considering he's nurtured the likes of Ferdinand, Cole, Defoe, Carrick, Johnson, Lampard who West Ham went onto sell for a fucking massive profit.

It's all about money with these cunts, they have absolutely no class at all and will shit on anyone if there's a pound note involved.

Private Dancer 1:35 Thu Jul 28
Re: Tony Carr being made redundant
Yes, by the letter of the law they should have fired him after he went bitching to the Daily Mail. That is what they should have done instead of using the little gobshite for a bit of payback.

Seriously, how crass is it to give a kid salary figures to post on some two bob website?

No, they just hide behind a spotty kid, armed with salary figures.
